The Model projects The Model projects The Kyoto Center for Community Collaboration has been promoting several model projects since 2006 to support the renovation of Machiya using the funding of the Machiya Machizukuri Fund. About half of the renovation cost (up to a maximum 5 million yen )will be paid to the owner or the resident of the Machiya for renovation or to maintain the Machiya’s traditional appearance and structure.
A large task the center is facing now is how to raise the amount of available money to continue this model project. The center needs a lot of support and cooperation from many people.
